David Beckmeyer from Earthlink and regular uClinux contributor has just announced a really cool contest featuring the Lineo uCsimm. Earthlink is
sponsoring a contest for Linux, XML, Java, wireless, and Web application developers. The contest seeks creative application
ideas for a prototype open-standards "Automotive Vehicle Location" (AVL) telematics platform that was created by
EarthLink's R&D team.

A firmware
upgrade package has been developed that adds the slow command
to the bootloader for the uCsimm. The upgrade also fixes a known
bug that affected modules with ATMEL Flash. The new bootloader
is called uCbootstrap and is version 1.05.1 http://www.uclinux.com/bootloader.

Inc. Announced at the Montreal Linux Expo the release of uClinux
version 2.0.38.1pre5 on CD. The uClinux CD contains the popular
uClinux System Builder Kit. The CD will support the uCsimm Linux
embedded microcontroller that uses Motorola's DragonBall™
EZ Integrated Processor. Beta support for other processor families
has be expanded to include i960 and ARM7TDMI.
